Setup Data Manager Export and Import
Prerequisites:
- Read topic, About Setup Data Manager.
- The source and the destination environment must be the same application version.
- We recommend that you back up the database before you import the configuration items.
To export Setup items:
- Log in to the source environment.
- Go to Setup > System > Setup Data Manager.
- Click the Export tab.
- Select the Setup items you would like to export.
Dependencies between items will automatically be included in the selection. For example, if you choose job title X, and job title X is linked to authority Z, then authority Z will automatically be selected. A Setup item that depends on a Setup item that is not part of the initial release of the Setup Data Manager will not be exported. See About Setup Data Manager for more information.
- Review the items, when ready click Export Selected.
- Save the .gz file (a compressed XML file). Do not modify the file. Modified files are not supported.
- Log into the destination environment.
- Go to Setup > System > Setup Data Manager.
- Click the Import tab.
- In Import Setup Data File, you can either drag your import file in the box or click in the box to select the file.
- Once loaded, review the items to be imported.
- When ready, click Publish to import the Setup items.
- The application displays a confirmation message upon completion. Please review all success type messages, and or error type messages.
