Setup Data Manager Export and Import

Prerequisites:

  • Read topic, About Setup Data Manager.
  • The source and the destination environment must be the same application version.
  • We recommend that you back up the database before you import the configuration items.

To export Setup items:

  1. Log in to the source environment.
  2. Go to Setup > System > Setup Data Manager.
  3. Click the Export tab.
  4. Select the Setup items you would like to export.

    Dependencies between items will automatically be included in the selection. For example, if you choose job title X, and job title X is linked to authority Z, then authority Z will automatically be selected. A Setup item that depends on a Setup item that is not part of the initial release of the Setup Data Manager will not be exported. See About Setup Data Manager for more information.

  5. Review the items, when ready click Export Selected.
  6. Save the .gz file (a compressed XML file). Do not modify the file. Modified files are not supported.
  7. Log into the destination environment.
  8. Go to Setup > System > Setup Data Manager.
  9. Click the Import tab.
  10. In Import Setup Data File, you can either drag your import file in the box or click in the box to select the file.
  11. Once loaded, review the items to be imported.
  12. When ready, click Publish to import the Setup items.
  13. The application displays a confirmation message upon completion. Please review all success type messages, and or error type messages.
