About Accrual Groups
An Accrual Group is used to manage employee time-earned such as vacation, sick, and compensation time. This application calculates time earned and time taken using an Accrual Group.
Prior to application version 7.5.2, Accrual Groups were identified and linked by number. As of application version 7.5.2, Accrual Group naming conventions were simplified and can now be configured with a long name to reflect the name of an accrual policy rather than an arbitrary number in Setup.1.
Accrual Group
When linked to an Accrual Group...
- The non-working type work code subtracts time.
- The working work code adds time to a bank of hours.
As such, both a nonworking and a working work code are required to create a functional Accrual Group (bank of hours) that employees can automatically deduct and increment time through the use of work codes. The Accruals report provides time earned and time taken totals.
Additionally, separate rate values can be set for each work code. For example, time taken deducts at a rate of 1.0, and time granted accrues at a rate of 1.5.

It is important to understand how this web application adds and subtracts time from banks. The system connects and calculates time across all work codes within the same Accrual Group which depending on your configuration may include historical work code records. Because of this, when customers decide to implement accruals after going into production, new time earned work codes could be required to remove all references to historical time taken. |
